Reflections On Yesterday And Tomorrow. More On My Dream.
Yesterday was August 24 – our great Independence Day. Celebrations in many places entertained people. But not every one was partying. My family postponed celebration to another time, there are couple of reasons for this.
First of all our little Matvey is still at the hospital with jaundice. This coming Monday may be the day of family reunion! Today doctors said we can not continue infusions, his veins are Also our my wife’s grandfather is in the hospital again and his condition looks less promising. Earlier this year he underwent two operation on his digesting system and his health has been steadily declining since. Please pray for him to reconcile with the Lord, he is not stubborn but we very concern for his soul.
Secondly, our housing situation leaves me no rest. I have been eagerly looking for ways to fund purchasing of construction plot and building small residential house for my family. Building from a scratch is cheaper than buying final house in same condition.
In my – unsuccessful so far – search for 50 thousand dollars loan, yesterday I happen to be talking to my former class mate. Presently he runs residential housing construction project that will build 4 houses in suburb area of Kyiv. It took us 15 minutes driving to get there from last metro station reaching out to that direction. Unfortunately for me (my take of situation) my friend could not lend me money because of his current financial commitment but said that he is interested to sell the finished houses to one buyer.
Total price of these four residential houses approximately equals $800,000.00 with one house about $200,000.00. Of course the price will grow as he goes out to the market. No local expert can now tell you when prices will fall. I only could commend my friend for good business thinking. Ukraine is filled with good business opportunities that smart people can use for the good.
I am sure of God’s call for me not to business but to theological education that eventually makes eternal impact on many others through our Seminary graduates. If you want to see pictures from my yesterday’s trip they are available for you under housing tag and in my dated archive in my Flickr album.
Time to speak up more about one of my dreams. A way to address seminary faculty housing issue is this. Having a plot of land that big enough in size, we construct rowhouse or duplex or semi-detached houses that can accommodate several families. National and foreign faculty provided with housing, short term or long term. There are varieties of building projects available that could suit this need. Below is drawing of an idea of construction project. Enjoy.
