The picture below was taken in front of our Hope Evangelical Church on April 9, 2006.
Next picture taken on the Easter Day, April 27, 2008. As you can see there are three of us in front of our church now: dad, mom and our little boy Matviy, who is 9 month old. Thank you, Jesus, for your glorious resurrection and for multiplying our family!

I am an American Evangelical teaching two Ukrainian ladies English. I do not know what their spiritual background is, we haven’t gotten that far yet. I’m looking for some help with how to approach the subject with them. I understand American subcultures and I know what questions to ask to find out where an American is spiritually, but I wonder if there are things I need to be aware of before bringing it up with a Ukrainian. One is 43 years old and the other is 18. I’ve already discovered they have been raised in two different Ukraines! They are both from Kyiv. Is there anything I should know in discussing Christ with them? Are there good ways and bad ways to approach this with them that may be different than in the US? Thanks for any help you have time to offer.

Dear Becky,
This time of the year is convenient for sharing the good news of Jesus’ coming to our world with divine purpose to save us by his Calvary work. Deeper conversation about faith is appropriate, sharing the values of your culture based on the Biblical principles and inviting them to celebration of Christ’s birth is the right thing to do. Ask them how they celebrate Christmas and what it means for them and in turn share what it means for you.
That’s my quick answer to your questions.

Hello Sergei. As a former missionary to
Ukraine, would you be willing to send me your
email address so that I could ask about a
possible meeting with you there at KTS? Thank
you! Rev. Mike Linville

On del.icio.us you have a note that Al Mohler is the president of SWBTS. Actually Paige Patterson is president of SWBTS. Dr. Mohler is president of SBTS.
Southwestern vs. Southern
I’m guessing if you are an academic dean, you already knew this and it’s just a typo. Just thought I’d bring it to your attention so you can change it. Feel free to delete my comment. It was for your benefit only.

Sergei, I hope you are well. I want to say again thank you so much for allowing me and Jeff Crane to visit you a couple of weeks ago. I am now back in the U.S. and I am checking out your blog. I look forward to communicating with you more. Blessings to you and to your family.

Luke,
It was a great privilege for me to meet you and Jeff and to share with you both about our seminary and her ministry. I pray for God’s leading for your ministry and want to thank you for taking time considering Ukraine and also KTS as a mission field. Yes, we’ll keep in touch.
Warmly,
Sergei
