There Are Many Wars, But This One I Must Make
I got this twitter message sent by John Piper (I trust my eyes, check it for yourself) then I watched the video clip twice and now I can’t get rid of that thought that there is one war that I must make. There are many wars out there. People fight for different causes; I may feel I should fight for something, strive for something or aim to something. But whole passage of the Scriptures in Hebrews 12 pushes me to conclude that one war is crucial, inevitable and necessary. Read the text online: http://ref.ly/He12.3-17;ESV
Verse 4 reads, “In your struggle against sin you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood” And that’s so true of me.
Thank you, Jesus, for this reminder. My eyes are upon you, you are my Commander in Chief and the Lord, the Victor. I need your grace to make war against sin in my life, for the sake of my joy and your glory.
What about you my friend, who reads this and watches the video? Do you make war against sin in your life?

Philip Yancey’s Interview 2008
From Video Introduction:
Author Philip Yancey explores the influence of faith and spirit on his writing in this interview with Dean Nelson of Point Loma Nazarene University. Series: Writer’s Symposium By The Sea [4/2008]
Eugene Peterson’s Interview 2007
This hot Sunday afternoon we were hiding from the heat of the sun in our room. In addition to fun of being around of 13 month old little boy we had another edifying entertainment. Eugene Peterson’s interview – a mixture of spiritual, educational and literary insights with good laughter – brought us refreshment and complemented Sunday morning message that was preached at Hope Church in Kyiv.
From introduction to video:
Author, poet, pastor and professor Eugene Peterson charms his audience as he recalls his effort to translate the Bible into The Message, an interpretation geared for modern readers. The book has such wide appeal that U2’s Bono began quoting from it at concerts. But when told of this, Peterson’s response was “Who is Bono?” Peterson is joined host Dean Nelson in Part 2 of the 2007 Writers Symposium by the Sea, sponsored by Point Loma Nazarene University. Series: “Writer’s Symposium By The Sea” [4/2007]
Enjoy.

Photo: Matviy on May 11, 2008
Our church went to a picnic on May 11, 2008. Our part of the city has wonderful park and woods. There are three small lakes there and many people spend they week-ends there having a picnic or just going for a walk. This picture of our son Matviy was taken on our way to the picnic. You can also see pictures from the picnic in my photo album where I made a ‘church picnic‘ set.
Remember to Change
This Dilbert’s cartoon reminded me of God’s word to me in regard to change. This tactic may work well with a sloppy boss but it will never work with God. I better get doing what I got to do for that. Otherwise it’s not going to be a happy hours of life taking to Him again about it.
He forgets our sins that he pardons us but he watches over his words to be fulfilled.
Isaiah 43:25 “I, I am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins.”
Hebrews 8:12 For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more.”
Jeremiah 1:12 Then the LORD said to me, “You have seen well, for I am watching over my word to perform it.”
That’s why I pray with biblical author, “Remember not the sins of my youth or my transgressions; according to your steadfast love remember me, for the sake of your goodness, O LORD!” (Psalm 25:7)

Just Turned 7 Months!
I am delighted and grateful having February 20th on calendar. The reason to give thanks in my prayers today is my son’s 7 month of life on this earth. Yes, our little baby boy Matthew turned 7 month today! This morning before leaving home to go to the seminary I had wonderful time of watching him ‘reading’ and playing with his toys sitting on our bed with his mommy catching up with sleep.
Oh what a joy and thrill to watch a fruit of our love grow! What a blessing God gave us people instituting marriage and enabling us to bear children. What a responsibility and honor! So much to learn I am sure.
